Text Box: In an officers meeting November 5, 2003 John R. Ashton, Worshipful Master of Scioto Lodge #6 briefed the officers on events he would like to see accomplished during his year as Master of the lodge. The handout, in the form of a booklet, began with his “Mission Statement.” Essentially inaugurating a position that lodge should be fun and it is his hope that every member would look forward to attending lodge. His objective uphold the degree of integrity of the ritualistic work while planning peripheral events around the family unit. Worshipful Brother Ashton’s focus is on uniting the lodge program with an emphasis on community involvement and that together we can make it happen.
Presently his proposal includes Masonic Night at the Paints—a Family Outing. This event has not been finalized. A family Social Night—an evening geared toward socializing with our Masonic Brethren, their wives and guests. It will also include some organized games with prizes for the children.
Under the community involvement focus is the Ross County Special Olympics. This is in addition to the Grand Lodge of Ohio and its plan to raise funds for the Summer Games held in Columbus, Ohio.
