Brother Patrick Browne has been working as web master for Scioto Lodge #6 F. & A. M. Brother Browne who received his degree work in the one day class of newly raised Master Mason March 29, 2003. Typically his schedule does not allow as much time as he would like to work on the web site here in the office. As secretary of Scioto Lodge #6 F. & A. M. and Chillicothe Chapter #4 and recorder for Chillicothe Council #4 and Chillicothe Commandery #8, he and I try to arrange a monthly update on the last Wednesday of each month. Sometimes that does not happen. Brother, Companion and Sir Knight Browne lives with his son in Circleville, Ohio and is employed in the banking field in Columbus, Ohio.

The Memorial page has been updated and plans are on the table to add additional content to other pages of the web site. One new page was inserted specifically related to the 200th Anniversary which we will add to as various activities unfold. Please visit our website at www.sciotolodge.com

Web Site Update

Text Box: There has been a number of queries and feedbacks on the article concerning the Blue Slipper which appeared in the December issue of The Trestle Board. Scioto Lodge #6 F. & A. M. in a move a couple years ago initiated a program of presenting our Masonic Widows the Black Rose Widow’s pin. This is accomplished any time Scioto Lodge #6 F. & A. M. has been called upon by the family to perform a Masonic funeral service for any of our members. When the program was initiated we presented this pin to widows who attended the Ladies and Widows Night Banquet. The vendor we use for ordering such items does not carry the Blue Slipper. The Black Rose pin is well received by the widow. There are no immediate plans to transition to the presentation of the Blue Slipper.

Text Box: In a move at the 196th Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of Ohio there was a Code change that provides for the purchase of Rituals. The combined rituals may be purchase for $50.00 and all sales must be handled through the Office of the Secretary.

Most Worshipful Brother George O. Braatz, Grand Secretary, has indicated that his office will respond only to ritual orders from the lodge secretary.

While the District Deputies Grand Master who are inspecting their respective lodges will not require rituals to be made available to them at pre-inspection, the lodge secretary still require them to be made available on an annual basis to inspect the condition of the ritual.

The Grand Lodge of Ohio will still replace, at no cost, rituals that are deteriorated due to normal wear. However, abused rituals that are damaged due to carelessness in handling will NOT be replaced under the program and, in this instance, officers will be responsible for the replacement cost of $50.00 if the ritual is unduly damaged beyond use. For further information contact the Office of the Secretary at 774-3485.
