Text Box: Scioto Lodge #6 F. & A. M. held its ninth annual TOP Scholars Banquet Monday, May 7, 2007. This banquet is hosted by the lodge to recognize and honor all top scholars in the various schools districts in Ross County.  Invitations were sent to all top scholars whose names had been submitted by high school Guidance Counselors.  School superintendents, principals and guidance counselors from Adena, Chillicothe, Huntington, Paint Valley, Southeastern, Unioto and Zane Trace High Schools were extended an invitation. The scholarship recipients, their parents and siblings were the special guests of the evening. 
Worshipful Master Ralph W. Cyrus presented all top scholars with a pen and pencil set on behalf of Scioto Lodge #6 F. & A. M. Worshipful Brother John J. Vanek, chairman of the Scioto Lodge #6 F. & A. M. Scholarship Committee, presented Ms. Addie Payne and Mr. Brock Ginther, the two scholarship recipients, with certificates recognizing them as this year’s winners of the $1,000.00 scholarship award.
Ms. Payne ranked third in her class of 197 at Chillicothe High School and will be enrolled in the Autumn Quarter at the Ohio State University.  She will be in the honor program majoring in biology with aspirations of a minor in French.  Her plans are to stay on a premed course of study, attend medical school and to eventually become a practicing physician. Ms. Payne is the sister of Brother John Sayre Payne who received his Entered Apprentice Degree February 15, 2007.









Mr. Ginther of Huntington High School ranked second in his class of 94 and has been accepted to Emerson College for the September 2007 class and is enrolled in the Media Production with focus on sound design. Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts is the only comprehensive college dedicated exclusively to communication and the arts.  Brock was awarded the Dean’s Scholarship in recognition of his scholastic achievement, creative potential, citizenship, character and community service. It is Mr. Ginther’s goal to become a recording engineer and ultimately own his own studio.

Scioto Lodge #6 F. & A. M., its officer and membership wish our scholarship recipients and all TOP scholars great success as they pursue their higher educational goals. 
Members of the Scioto Lodge #6 F. & A. M. Scholarship Committee are W.B. John J. Vanek, W.B. Michael Ash, W.B. William E. Landrum, Brother Brad Burns, Brother Dan M. Riddle, and Brother Todd Bost. 
Brother Dan M. Riddle and Worshipful Brother William Bennett co-chaired the annual event. All Masons are invited to attend this banquet and wish our honored guests much success in achieving their career goals. We look forward now to the class of 2008 and enjoy hearing from our past recipients.
