The Trestle Board

Special Thanks

I would like to extend a special thank you to Jim Willis and his Special Olympics Fund Raiser Committee.  At the beginning of my term of office, I asked Jim to Chair a committee to find a replacement fund raising activity for the Spaghetti Dinner.  In years past, the Spaghetti Dinner has had marginal success.

Jim’s committee determined that there were two contributing factors to the marginal success.  The location of the Lodge for the dinner was considered an issue with regard to access and parking.  Participation in the event had not been as good as hoped either.  Jim and his committee determined their two major goals to make the event a success was to relocate the event and find ways to increase participation from the membership. Both were a success.  Thanks to the donation from the Ross County Shrine Club and huge participation from the membership, we raised in excess of $3,300.00 for Special Olympics Summer Games.

I want to thank Jim and his committee for their work!!!

Sincerely,

Michael B. Haller

Worshipful Master

Brethren,

On behalf of the Grand Lodge of the State of Ohio and the Scioto 6 Special Olympics Committee, I would like to thank each and every one of you who participated in some way in our Chicken and Noodle Dinner. We have raised in excess of $ 3,300.00 to send to the Grand Lodge for this summer’s event.  This will in turn sponsor 33 Special Olympic Athletes.

Whether you bought and/or sold tickets, told friends about the dinner, worked on the day of preparation, or the day of the dinner, I am very grateful.   Special thanks go out to Brad Burns and Ray West, who headed up the kitchen crews, Mike Bayse for selling 130 dinners to folks at Kenworth, Jack Theobald who sold 25 dinners, Ryan Adams for selling 30 tickets to Citizens National Bank and Betty Landrum, who sold several tickets to the nursing homes and apartment complexes.  It would be difficult to list everyone who helped, but I thank you allIf you have not sent your ticket money in, please do so soon (or better yet, come to the next Lodge meeting) so we can close the books and hopefully sponsor a few more kids.

I would like to acknowledge the Ross County Shrine Club for the in kind donation of $250.00 for rent of the hall, the Ross County Sheriff’s Department for day after clean-up, Larry Eyre, William Garrison, Jerry C. Fletcher, who individually sponsored a child in the Olympics in the amount of $100.00 each.

It was a lot of fun sharing time with each other while raising money for a good cause.

Sincerest thanks,

James Willis
