FROM: Michael B. Haller, Worshipful Master

As I come to the end of my year as Worshipful Master, I would like to thank all of you who made this past year a success. I would especially like to thank the Past Masters who supported our Lodge, and me, and contributed so much to the special events, operation of the lodge and the degree work that took place this year. We have a very active group of Past Masters!

Remembering some of the good times we shared: We celebrated the 200th Anniversary of Masonry in Chillicothe at the Installation of our Officers [November 21, 2005], on the occasion of the 200th Anniversary of the founding of our Lodge, and in the Re-consecration of our lodge February 4, 2006. We hosted the Grand Master for our Inspection and the Seventh Masonic District Association’s Grand Master’s Reception.

The officers’ goals this year included having our Lodge contribute more to community activities and to make Scioto Lodge 6 and Masonry more visible in Chillicothe. To accomplish these, we wanted to replace the Spaghetti Dinner with something that would raise more money for Special Olympics. With a change of location, a menu change, an outstanding committee, and hard work, we were able to raise over $ 4,000.00 for Special Olympics. This is a $ 3,000.00 increase. The second idea was to support the area youth. We sponsored 2 little league teams (a majors and a minors team) and we supported the Ross County Junior Fair Program by co-sponsoring Junior Fair Night. Over 2,000 kids got to have fun, endure challenges, learn to work together and hear a little bit about Scioto Lodge #6. Over 4,000 people heard our name broadcast several times during the 4-5 hour grandstand events and see our name on over 2,000 T-Shirts throughout Ross Co., which are still being worn by the youth and adults that participated.

We also had the pleasure of conferring 13 EA degrees, 7 FC degrees, and 6 MM degrees. We had 4 new brethren who affiliated with our lodge and they have become active. All of our regular events, including Veteran’s Night, Inspection, Ladies and Widows Night, the Scholarship Awards Night, Fish Fry, and Past Masters’ Night went well also.

As I look back at the year, and our membership list, well over 300 brothers participated in one or more of these events. It may have been a financial contribution, they may have worked 14 hours on the fish fry, or they may have assisted on the craft team. No matter what was done, it took all 300 of us to accomplish them.

As we start the next 200 years of Masonry in Chillicothe, let us continue to work together as a team, and as a “society of friends and brothers”, who “best can work and best agree.”

Once again, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to serve as Master, and to thank you for all you have done to contribute to the events listed above.

Sincerely,

Michael B. Haller
