Text Box: The Plan of Action and Milestone Committee approved support in underwriting various renovations to the Masonic Temple.
The extent of the work is being done to the rear exterior of the building. Original projects were to focus on repairing and sealing the north facing wall at a cost of $6,000.00. Painting and repairing the lower portion of the structure outside the rear entrance of the space currently being occupied by Mourning’s Office Supply, one of the ground floor tenants costs estimates were $700.00. The final phase of repairs was to have included stripping and repainting the fire escape system at a cost of $4,140.00 for a total expenditure of $10,840.00.
Brother Brad Burns, of B & B Enterprises, briefed the building manager and members of the Plan of Action and Milestone Committee that after making some inspections other issues appeared to need immediate attention to circumvent greater expense were they allowed to go Text Box: unattended for another year. The fire escape system was deemed a lesser priority. The rear portion of the building housing Class Act, another ground floor tenant, need immediate attention as well as the carport outside Mourning’s.
Costs of repairs to the rear of Class Act came in at $2,400.00 with the north facing windows and cover costing $425.00 and the carport repair at $1,550.00. With a suggested discount of $235.00 the total obligated outlay of funds did not require additional funds to cover the total costs.
The continued projects program are allowing long overdue repairs to be made to the building.
Worshipful Brother Harley Thomas, building manager, has had a busy summer with water leaks surfacing in the building causing damage on the virtually all floors of the Chillicothe Masonic Temple. However, with his vigilance and dedication he is keeping even with the problems.
