Text Box: Sir Knights at the stated Conclave Tuesday, May 22, 2007 heard the first reading of a report by the committee assigned by then Eminent Commander Robert S. Jones, assessing the financial situation of Chillicothe Commandery #8 K.T.

The report committee was chaired by Sir Knight John R. Ashton and the report was presented by Sir Knight Robert K. Brown. The assignment was to review the financial condition of Chillicothe Commandery #8 and make recommendations for the annual dues assessment for members. The Committee met at the Chillicothe Masonic Temple Monday 21, 2007.

The Committee reviewed the expenses to the Grand Commandery, Grand Encampment and the normal expenses of Chillicothe Commandery #8 K.T. Current balances in savings [as of 05.21.07], checking and projected income were reviewed.

Sir Knight Robert K. Brown, in his report reported that Grand Encampment increased their per capita [dues] from $3.30 to $9.00, an increase of $5.70. Also, the $5.00 assessment from the Grand Commandery is to be discontinued as of the 2006/2007 year. After reviewing the projected income and expenses for 2007-2008 we found them to be $8630.20 and $6424.00 respectively; a deficit of $2206.20. These deficits have been occurring over the past eight years and have reduced the Chillicothe Commandery savings from $40,000 to $28,000. The present dues, with assessments are $22.00.

The recommendation of the Review Committee is to continue the present $5.00 assessment [already in place] and to increase the Commandery dues by $8.00, making the new dues $30.00 annually. This would give the Commandery a total income of $8760.00 against expenses of $8630.20 which would produce a carry over of $130.00.

Arguably, it was the position of the committee to impact membership as little as possible, while at the same time maintaining a level of responsible stewardship of the funds of Chillicothe Commandery #8 K.T. In this era and, knowing many of our valued Sir Knights are living on fixed incomes, it was felt that this action is the minimum the committee would be comfortable suggesting.

A second reading was held at the June 26th stated Conclave and a motion to accept the report and present the recommendations before the Sir Knights at
